Fun with flags

With more than 200 Olympic teams and 170 Paralympic teams at the London 2012 Games, each team identifies itself by the flag of its nation and proudly displays it throughout the Athletes’ Village.

We are encouraging schools to create a special ‘moment’ within their celebrations on World Sport Day, to honour and have fun with the flags of their chosen nations. Whenever you choose to have your flag moment, make it special. The more inventive, artistic and resourceful you can be, the more fun you will have with it. From games to human flags, you decide.

When will your flag moment be? How will you produce the flags? We have provided you with some innovative ways of creating your flags, download the resources and choose how you will honour the teams you have chosen to support in the lead up to the London 2012 Games.

Thousands of fun flags of all sizes, shapes and colours will be created on World Sport Day. We want to capture and share your flag-tastic moment full of smiling faces, so send your pictures and videos to worldsportday@london2012.com. Don’t forget to get the whole community involved, and share your photos far and wide!

Throughout Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week, make sure you use your flags to cheer on other teams and celebrate success in sporting activities, maybe through your medal ceremonies.
