What do you do?

“I run the site office and I am PA (Personal Assistant) to the Director of Infrastructure Delivery. I manage two Assistants. With so many people working on the Park there are a lot of coordination meetings to go to and safety briefings to be done.”

When did you start working on the Olympic site?

“I have been working on the Olympic Park since 2007. Before that I was a PA to the Managing Director of a recruitment company.”

What do you like about working on the Olympic Site?

“This is the most challenging job I have done but it is good fun and an exciting environment to work in. I’ve enjoyed working with different people who are all experts in their chosen field.”

This is very varied work. It depends on the size of the office and the sort of work which is being organised. An Office Manager is responsible for making sure that anything that happens in the office is done well.

Duties of an Office Manager:

  • using office software e.g. emails, spread sheets and databases
  • managing filing systems
  • recording expenditure and managing a budget
  • keeping the office well supplied with materials
  • delegating work to other office staff
  • organising meetings and other arrangements for the Director
  • writing reports

Knowledge and Skills:

  • good administrative and IT skills
  • able to write reports
  • good at communicating with a broad range of people
  • well organised
