Get Set network school of the month January 2012!
24 Jan 2012

The ‘Get Set Network school of the month’ for January 2012 is…Tycroes Primary school in Wales!

Last year two Bronze Young Ambassadors were elected at Tycroes Primary School to inspire and motivate pupils, friends, parents and teachers to become more active more often… and they haven’t wasted any time. The Young Ambassadors recently led a Key Stage 2 assembly based on the Olympic and Paralympic Values.

The pair also sent out questionnaires to all pupils in Key Stage 2 to find out about the sports they participate in outside of school, the clubs they attend and whether there are any sports that they are interested in taking up. The proactive duo analysed the results and are now in the process of contacting local clubs to invite them into school to speak to the pupils and encourage them to join in.

Lastly, Tycroes Primary School are excited to be hosting their own opening ceremony on 25 June as part of London 2012 World Sport Day. Pupils and teachers will be adding some Indonesian flavour to their day to celebrate their link with Rosela School in West Java.

Every school in the UK is invited to join in on World Sport Day, so find out how your school can celebrate the athletes and cultures of the world.

The school was selected as the Get Set network school of the month on the basis of an outstanding blog post describing the activities that the students have been involved in. The school will receive a letter of congratulations from Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and they will receive a surprise visit from a London 2012 guest!
