‘Have you got what it takes?’
‘Have you got what it takes?’ invites students to work in teams and to take on the role of a company bidding to London 2012 and later the national governing bodies of sports to become an approved host of a Pre-Games Training Camp.
As a member of the Get Set network , Deansfield High school was selected for an extra special workshop. A London 2012 representative visited the school to deliver a ‘Have you got what it takes’ workshop with a group of students in year 10. During the workshop, students prepared a 5 minute ‘dragons den style’ pitch on how they could attract and host an international team at a Pre Games Training Camp. They based their camp at their school and surrounding venues in the West Midlands.
A few days later, the school was then visited by Paul Deighton, Chief Executive of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and Olympian David Mororcroft. They sat on a panel of judges while the students delivered their presentations. The students gave outstanding presentations and prizes were awarded to those with the best pitch.
