26 May 2011

Essex County Council and the London Organising committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games are happy to announce that the following feature names and schools have won the Hadleigh Farm Feature Naming Competition!

The chosen names will be used by commentators and mountain bikers the world over to refer to those features on the course during the official test event at Hadleigh Farm, the Games in 2012 and for future use at the course as it is used well after the 2012 Games.

Feature 1: ‘Leap of Faith’ Baddow Hall Junior School (Chelmsford)
Feature 2: ‘Deanes Drop’ The Deanes School (Thundersley)
Feature 3: ‘The Breathtaker’ Hadleigh Junior School (Hadleigh)
Feature 4: ‘Rabbit Hole’ Chelmer Valley High School (Chelmsford)

With congratulations to the winning schools, we would like to thank all the schools for submitting some fantastic entries. Both the judging panel and the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games were very impressed with the amount of work that schools had obviously put into developing their names. The winning names will now be used during the test event at Hadleigh Farm on the 31 July 2011 as well as becoming famous the world over as they are used in TV and event coverage.
