28 Jun 2011

Congratulations go to Ormskirk School in Lancashire, North West England.

Ormskirk School have been selected as the Get Set network school of the month as a result of their brilliant blog posts outlining their commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Values.

Here at Ormskirk School we have been promoting the Olympic and Paralympic Values, not only in our own school but in local primary schools too. The Sports Council and Olympic Committee have visited local primary schools to give assemblies on the Olympic & Paralympic Values and primary pupils have also been invited to an Olympic Conference run by Ormskirk School leaders. Our Olympic Challenge Day taking place later this term involves the whole school taking part in over 30 sporting and cultural Olympic & Paralympic activities such as fencing, wheelchair basketball, judo, BMX, photography and sculpting. Every department in Ormskirk School has created an action plan aiming to use the Olympic & Paralympics’ to inspire pupils in curriculum time.

The school is very proud to have been selected as the Get Set network school of the month and is looking forward to receiving an athlete visit in September!

The school was selected on the basis of an outstanding blog post describing the activities that the students have been involved in. The school will receive a letter of congratulations from Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and an athlete visit as a reward for their efforts.
