Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week 2011 – Scotland’s biggest school sport event – gets under way today!

The week gets off the starting blocks at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow where over 700 pupils will take part in a series of Olympic and Paralympic sport activities bringing to life the theme of this year’s event – achieve your personal best – with the highlight of the day a Guinness World Record attempt for the most people running 100m in a one hour relay! They’ll be spurred on by Bank of Scotland Ambassadors for London 2012, Sir Chris Hoy, Katherine Grainger and Jason Gardener.

This is the second year of Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week with 1,400 schools, twice the number than in 2010, and over 330,000 school children taking part across every region in Scotland – all aiming to achieve their personal best throughout the week, whether that’s individually, in their class, in their school or in their club.

As the National Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay pupils and teachers from a secondary school, registered and taking part in this year’s Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week, have the chance to carry the Olympic Flame thought their community in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay Through a ‘pledge your support’ scheme. Primary schools will have the chance to win tickets to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
