Paralympic World Cup inspires students
4 Jul 2011

A group of young mentors from East Norfolk PfS Associate Centre and Olympic and Paralympic Ambassadors from Cliff Park High School, Gorleston did a round trip of over 400 miles to be part of the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.

The young people, who use the Olympic and Paralympic Values as a vehicle to inspire their peers and students from their local Primary Schools in the area, were given this opportunity by Miss Bivens, Centre Manager, and Mr. Panayi, Head of Olympic Ambassadors, as a reward for all their inspirational work within the community.

The Mentors and Ambassadors celebrated the achievements of the athletes in style, waving flags, banners and helium balloons. They were amazed at the speed of Oscar Pistorius, and were excited to watch Nathans Stevens compete, who they had met previously at the Norfolk County Council’s launch of a London 2012 inspired film. One student commented ‘We were all delighted to meet Wenlock and have our photo taken with him!’

Becky Patterson, a mentor from the East Norfolk PfS Associate Centre shared, “Oh my gosh, I was so moved. It really inspired and touched me at how much determination the athletes have!”

The East Norfolk PfS Associate Centre and Cliff Park High School are both members of the Get Set network and have therefore qualified for their schools allocation of Ticketshare tickets to the London 2012 Games! Is your school a member yet? If not, then apply today!
