Congratulations go to a student from Beauchamps High school in the East of England who was selected as one of the winners of the ‘Get Set to make your mascot’ competition.
Katie Huane, the Regional Project Manager for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has given an account of the day that Beth was congratulated in front of the whole school…
‘I had an early start this morning to travel to the other side of the East region to join Cllr Stephen Castle at a special assembly at Beauchamps High School. Cllr Castle was guest of honour at the award ceremony and presented to the whole of Year Nine about his journey with the Games and what it means for the East and Essex. However, most importantly we were there to award a certificate to Beth. Beth has created a winning design of Wenlock the London 2012 Olympic mascot that will be used to create an official London 2012 Mascot pin badge. The school had created a great video documenting Beth’s journey to becoming a winner of the ‘Get Set to make your mascot’ competition. The rest of the assembly involved many other awards for sporting and academic achievement so presenting Beth with her certificate was absolutely in tune with the rest of the morning! Beth wants to go into the field of design and will be taking a GCSE in Art next year. I am glad that we’ve perhaps spurred her on with her dreams!’
