Royal College of Art students to design key elements of the London 2012 Victory Ceremonies

LOCOG, The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has announced a partnership with the Royal College of Art (RCA) which will see RCA post graduate students design key elements of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Victory Ceremonies.
In 2012 more than 770 Victory Ceremonies will take place in 29 different venues across the UK, watched by thousands of spectators in venues and a global television audience.
LOCOG are working with RCA students to design key elements including the podia where athletes at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will receive their medals, costumes, flower holders and trays which will carry the medals and flowers. Around 250 trays and 6,000 flower holders will be used in the Victory Ceremonies.
Students will work in collaboration with industry producers involved in each element and will see their designs through to fruition, working at Games time with key London 2012 Victory Ceremonies staff to see their designs in action.
Next, the London 2012 Official Clothing and Homeware Supplier, will work with the RCA students on their designs to produce all the costumes for the Victory Ceremonies, including costumes for the Presenter Escorts, Athlete Escorts and Medal and Flower Bearers.
