Every month, a different Get Set network school is selected for living the Olympic and Paralympic Values and for celebrating them in innovative and creative ways. Check out who has been selected for January 2011.
Get Set network school of the month!
26 Jan 2011
Congratulations to Kent Spitfires Study Centre!
Kent Spitfires Study Centre has been selected as the ‘Get Set Network school of the month’ for January 2011 as a result of their outstanding commitment to living the Olympic and Paralympic Values.
Since joining the Get Set Network, the Kent Spitfires Study Centre has been working hard to spread their enthusiasm and inspiration for the London 2012 games.
‘We have been running 5 week activity courses with local schools, based around the Olympic and Paralympic Values. The students take part in sports activities, quizzes, group discussions and ICT activities. They have created their own posters, researched and developed athlete profiles and written poems about the Olympic and Paralympic Games. There really is something for everyone!
Students have also organised their own mini Olympic sports competition. They researched a range of sports and adapted them for their event. They tweaked the rules of the sports, the equipment required and the scoring processes. They then led their peers throughout the event. It was a great success!
We are very proud to be selected as the ‘Get Set Network School of the Month’ for January 2011. This recognition will help us to build on our past successes and continue our good work!’
The study centre was selected as a result of their brilliant blog posts displaying their Olympic and Paralympic inspired activities. The school will receive an athlete visit as a reward for their efforts and a letter of congratulations from Seb Coe.
