Get Set to excercise your tastebuds winners!

Over 6,000 healthy dishes were submitted to the judges across four categories; primary schools, secondary schools, special schools and F.E colleges.

13 schools were invited to attend the competition final which saw 30 students cooking to impress the judges.

The shortlisted schools were:

Primary category
Shrivenham C of E primary school
Avening Primary school
Helme C of C Primary school
St Breock Primary school

Secondary category
Churnet View Middle school
Lambeth Academy
Ryburn Valley High School

Special school category
Frewen College
John Grant school
Wilson Stuart school

F.E college category
Westminster Kingsway college
North West Kent College
East Durham College

It was a fierce competition with students showcasing their culinary skills in front of a panel of judges which included Michelle Robinson, a former British Olympic triple jumper and Clare Strange, a three times Paralympian in the sport of wheelchair basketball. The students also had the added pressure of being filmed by BBC London news!

After a lot of discussion, the winners were announced by Michelin star chef Angela Hartnett….

Primary school category winner: Helme C of E Primary School (Yorkshire)

Secondary school category winner: Lambeth Academy (London) and highly commended Churnet View Middle school (West Midlands)

*Special school category winner: Wilson Stuart Special School (West Midlands) *

All of their dishes will be served in the athletes village at Games time.

F.E College category winner: Westminster Kingsway College (London)
This student impressed the judges so much that he was offered a work placement with the catering team in the Athletes Village during the Games next summer!
