Get Set for the Paralympic Games!
29 Aug 2011

Today it is exactly one year to go until the start of the London 2012 Paralympic Games!

IPC President Sir Philip Craven believes that this could be the best Paralympic Games ever. Craven has many reasons for feeling so positively about the potential success of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Craven hopes that the ‘Agitos’ (the symbol of the Paralympic Movement) will receive more exposure and people will start to understand what it represents.

The Agitos represents:

  • Determination
  • Inspiration
  • Courage
  • Equality

Sir Philip Craven said: “One of the most pleasing aspects for me personally is the enthusiasm and hunger people are showing for the London 2012 Paralympics.’’ This means that more and more people will be able to witness the Paralympic Games and appreciate the Values of the Games and the athletes; further helping to spread the Paralympic message.

Craven also believes that the Games will be economically successful. He hopes that the ‘ticket revenue, combined with income from sponsorship and broadcast sales will ensure that the London 2012 Paralympic Games are the most profitable yet.’

Sir Phillip Craven also believes that the interest levels are only going to increase with ‘all the activities that take place between now and next year’s Closing Ceremony’ further helping the London 2012 Paralympic Games to be the best ever.
