Get Set to visit the Olympic Park!
7 Jun 2010
60 members of the Get Set network won tours of the Olympic Park as part of a special prize draw held exclusively for network members.
The Get Set network is an active community of schools and colleges across the UK that are demonstraing a commitment to the Olympic Values of friendship, excellence and respect and the Paralympic Values of courage, determination, equality and inspiration.
Students saw first-hand the work that is progressing on London’s Olympic Park, where the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in 2012.
As part of the tour they saw the major venues being constructed by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) including the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Velodrome and Handball Arena, and learn about the environmental and community programmes running on the Olympic Park.
They also had the chance to have a group photo taken on the Greenway with the Olympic Stadium in the background!
Becky from East Norfolk Playing for Success Centre, based at Cliff Park High School in Gorlestone said: ‘I am so proud of my school and centre. I am so fortunate to have an opportunity like this, and to be in the Olympic Park in the lead up to the Games! It was a day we will remember for the rest of our lives!’
