23 Jan 2009
A group of young people from the 5 Host Boroughs (Newham, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich and Hackney) were recruited as the Olympic Delivery Authorities ‘Construction Crew’.
They have had opportunity to learn about different aspects of the Olympic Park construction programme and are tasked with sharing the information with their friends, family and classmates.
The Construction Crew have already learnt about how London 2012 are doing their best to protect the environment and build a sustainable Olympic Park as well finding out more about all the discoveries archaeologists have made on the Olympic Park site.
16 January 2009 marked the half way point between London becoming a Host City and the Opening Ceremony in 2012. The Construction Crew marked this special moment by visiting the Olympic Park to find out more about all the different types of jobs that people do on a construction site.
The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, met with the Construction Crew to hear about what they have learnt and what activities they have been doing in their schools as ambassadors for the construction of the Olympic Park.
