International Inspiration set to reach even more young people around the world.
International Inspiration expands
26 Nov 2008
International Inspiration is designed to encourage young people around the world to take part in sport. The programme hopes to reach 20 million children in 20 countries by 2012.
The first five countries to be involved in International Inspiration were India, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Palau and Zambia. Prime Minister Gordon Brown launched the programme earlier this year.
Today, it will be announced that five new countries will be joining the programme – Bangladesh, Ghana, Jordan, Mozambique and Triniad and Tobago.
Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London Organising Committee said: “Our vision is to use the Games to inspire change – changing lives is the driving force behind our plans. We took a clear vision to Singapore to encourage the world’s youth to choose sport. This announcement is another clear step towards delivering that promise.”
