All Blacks visit Greenwich to get London kids active
25 Nov 2008

The new adiZone is free for the community to use and aims to break down the barriers that prevent people from getting active, making sport participation accessible. The site has been inspired by the many sports of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and incorporate facilities to play basketball, football and tennis, a climbing wall, an outdoor gym and an open area to encourage dance, aerobics and gymnastics.

All Blacks captain Richiw McCaw said: “It is an honour to come to Greenwich today and officially open the adiZone, as well as to meet kids from the borough. The team hope that youngsters are inspired by the adiZones and participate in sport within the local community.”

London 2012 Chair Sebastian Coe said: “It is fantastic to see another adiZone open in London and I am thrilled that adidas is using the inspiration of London 2012 to encourage young people to get active – something that was core to our bid – and I look forward to seeing the scheme grow between now and 2012. Giving young people the opportunity to experience active lifestyles is one thing, but to do it in such an innovative and effective way, and in a way which leaves a real legacy beyond 2012 underlines why adidas is a perfect part for London 2012.”
