London 2012 hopes to be the greenest Olympic and Paralympic Games to date.
The Olympic Delivery Authority, who are responsible for building the Olympic Park, know that construction can have a huge impact on the environment, which is why they are doing everything they can to reduce the impact of their construction work for the people who live, work and play nearby.

Why not profile an animal or plant found on the Olympic Park?
Pick and then research an animal or plant found on the Olympic Park, then create a one-page profile on it, including its name, picture, description, preferred habitat, characteristics and lifecycle.

Why not create an Olympic Park venue out of waste materials?
Pick an Olympic Park venue and make a model of it using waste materials. Think about what kinds of waste materials you can collect at home and at school and how they will help you to create an interesting model.
Make sure you log each construction stage so that you have a record of the planning, resourcing, building, and opening of your venue.
Why not make a list of energy-saving commitments?
Think abut what ‘energy’ is, and list all the different types of energy there are (both renewable and non-renewable).
Then design a log so that you can record what energy is used at school and home for two weeks.
Think about what you could do to reduce the energy used and why this is important (for example, helping the environment and saving money). Work together to agree a list of commitments that will help you to save energy at school and home. You could then display your commitments around the school or give an assembly to get the whole school involved!
You could also design a questionnaire to gather more information from your parents, carers and friends. Then come up with suggestions for what they could do to save energy too.
Why not write an article for the school or local newspaper about what you have found out, why it is important to save energy, and what commitments you’ve agreed to?
