Try out some fun five-minute fillers about the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay!
Keep the children inspired by the Torch Relay with these ‘five-minute fillers’- just right for ending a lesson or as part of your circle time sessions.
- How many new words of three or more letters can you make from Torchbearer? (15 fair, 20 good, 25 bronze, 30 silver, 35 gold!)
- The Flame represents peace, unity and friendship. Pass a baton around the circle and ask the children to give an example of people acting peacefully, showing unity or friendship.
- Torchbearer for the day! Make a badge which represents the Flame and then the children take turns to wear it for one day before passing it on to another class member until everyone has had a turn. Take five minutes to invite the children to appreciate the ‘Torchbearer of the day’, for example: ‘She helped me when I was stuck, she’s good fun, she’s a good listener… ’ and so on.
