Fun five-minute fillers related to the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay!
Here are some quick ideas which you can use in the classroom when you have a spare five minutes. These ideas are perfect for circle time or to use just before lunch or break time.
- Stand in a circle and pass a ‘torch’ around. Say the name of the person you are passing it to.
- Pass your own ‘torch’ across the circle. Choose someone, say their name, walk across the circle and pass the ‘torch’.
- Sit in a circle. Ask someone to start off by whispering the words ‘Torch Relay’ to the person sitting next to them. Can the words pass all the way round the circle and stay the same? Try with another word such as ‘Flame’ or ‘Torchbearer’.
