The Olympic & Paralympic Values

The Olympic & Paralympic Values

Danny Crates celebrates his success at the Olympic Games

The Olympic and Paralympic Movements extend beyond the Games themselves. Athletes performing at the highest level – or in training to get there – are encouraged to live by a set of shared principles, or ways of living. These are called the Olympic and Paralympic Values.

The Olympic Values

  • friendship
  • excellence
  • respect

The Paralympic Values

  • inspiration
  • determination
  • courage
  • equality

How relevant do you think these Values are to your own life, the life of your friends and your local community?

Would life be any different for example, if the people you knew took the idea of respect and equality more seriously, or if you were all more determined to do something? Does courage have a part to play in your life?
