The Construction Crew
The construction crew made regular visits to view the progress of the venues, these were just some of the reasons why the students of the London area were proud to call themselves members of the ODA’s Construction.
Have you heard about the Construction Crew?
100 primary and secondary school students from the London area were proud to call themselves members of the ODA’s Construction Crew.
The Construction Crew made regular visits to the Olympic Park and saw how the site was shaping up. Sometimes the students went to special workshops to learn more about how the plans were becoming a reality. For example, Crew members spent a day planting in the wetlands area of the Olympic Park and found out how the London 2012 Games are the greenest ever.
When they returned to school, they were pretty busy giving assemblies, updating website pages, making models and of course, talking to school friends, teachers and their families about the latest developments at the Olympic Park. It was a two-way process because the Crew also let the ODA know what their friends were really interested in and what they would like to know next about construction on the site.
Construction Crew members have discussed their project with a few VIPs including the Queen, the President of South Africa, the Minister for Sport and the Olympics, the Mayor of London and Olympic Gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes.
