Here are some practical ideas for using the London 2012 Games as the launch pad for creative enterprise projects across the curriculum.
The activity ideas all support core enterprise skills and capabilities. They are open-ended and flexible so that students of different ages and abilities can tackle them at their own level.
You could use these ideas to support the development of enterprise as a dynamic cross-curricular dimension in your school or college, as defined in the QCDA Guidance which suggests cross-curricular dimensions can be, ‘…developed through subjects where there are common issues or areas of learning”.
The London 2012 Games could also become a theme of your involvement in Global Entrepreneurship Week, and may also support an application to join the Get Set network so that your school or college gains access to more exciting, free – and possibly even life-changing opportunities.
There’s no need to reinvent the wheel – just follow the Get Set links to find the resources you need to get started.
Warm-ups
The Olympic and Paralympic Values are central to all the suggested activities. To help students focus on these Values, you could use the following as ‘warm-ups’ to your London 2012 enterprise projects:
Know your Values
Know your Values an interactive game about solving everyday dilemmas and rating yourself against the Values.
Make a choice navigate sportsmen and women through some tricky diary clashes…what will it be, a night out with your mates, or a chance to win a regional sports final?
Picture story
For younger or less able students, picture story is an interactive game for matching pictures to Values.
Films
