‘Have you got what it takes?’ is a free teacher led resource, which develops enterprise skills in 11 to 14 year olds through asking students to pitch to become an approved pre Games training camp.
What is it?
‘Have you got what it takes?’ invites students to work in teams and to take on the role of a company bidding to London 2012 and later the national governing bodies of sports to become an approved host of a Pre-Games Training Camp.
We provide you with all of the resources that you need to run the activites: This includes
- Student pack, including all activity sheets
- Teacher’s notes, including answers and score sheets
- Powerpoint introduction
- Teacher guidance pack
The students proceed through two stages:
Stage one: Students prepare materials to demonstrate that they are ‘pitch ready’ and can therefore qualify as an approved host.
Stage two: Students give a presentation, (using the materials they prepared in stage one, )to the national governing body of a sport, in an attempt to actually host a pre-Games Training Camp.
Throughout the process students are required to demonstrate that their ‘company’ – and all the individuals within it – are committed to the Olympic and Paralympic Values.
Enter the National Competition
The winning team from each school is invited to enter a national ‘Have you got what it takes?’ competition and win prizes such as a trip to the Olympic museum in Lausanne, Switzerland and a tour of the Olympic Park.
