London 2012 Olympics

2012 Assemblies

GSgg - BBC 2012 assembly

2012 Assemblies from BBC World Class build up to the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Each 2012 Assembly contains BBC video which can be downloaded or streamed from the website, a teacher script to introduce the film, discussion points, and an Assembly Question.

For example, follow World Olympic Dreams athletes and see the view from their school as Luol Deng, the UK’s biggest basketball star, returns to Sudan and pupils at the school he attended in South London talk about their plans for 2012.

Or go back to school with US gymnast Shawn Johnson and see her teachers talk about Shawn’s motto: ‘dream big’!

Answer the Assembly Question: What’s better, a dream or a plan?

Follow stories from the Schools World Service (SWS). These topical films engage schools everywhere in current events, and the SWS Assembly films encourage further discussion.

2012 Assemblies can be used in any school discussion group, or as part of a global conversation with your international partner school. Share the links and resources with your partner school. Exchange thoughts afterwards or link up via the worldwide web for your global conversation.
