The world’s largest sporting events are coming to the UK in 2012, the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games.

Sport brings the world together and over 14,000 athletes from 205 Olympic teams and 170 Paralympic teams will be competing at the London 2012 Games. We’re encouraging you and your students to learn about the sports, athletes and cultures of the competing teams.

Explore the Interactive map of the competing teams to find out where in the world these competing teams are from, as well as fascinating facts and historical information on each. Challenge your students to find five Paralympic teams they have never heard of before. Find the Olympic team which has their favourite flag. Discover how many Paralympic medals each team won at Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. Look for a team with an interesting Olympic record.
