Help younger students to explore the relevance of the Olympic Truce in their own school and life.

Through the Olympic and Paralympic Games, people from all over the world play sport, make friends and have fun. Every four years the summer Games bring together athletes from every nation to take part in friendly competition.

Your students have the right to play, participate in sport and to make new friends regardless of their backgrounds. How can we try to make sure everyone has these rights and opportunities? The Olympic Truce promotes friendship, respect and understanding across the world through sport and culture.

Help your students learn about friendship, fairness and peace through the Olympic Truce and London 2012. Do you use the Values already? The story ‘Taking Sides’ Olympic Truce - Taking Sides story - 337.62kb is a good starting point for primary students to think about the truce-inspired activities in their school and playground by discussing fair play and respect.

You could use the Olympic Truce learning poster - 257.57kb and the Olympic Truce Peace Corner poster - 247.39kb to explore what the Olympic Truce means to the students themselves and the communities in which they live. Use the white panel to record your ideas and to think about how you could work with your local and international partner schools to promote the idea of London 2012 bringing the world together through sport.
